XVM crashes game on match load since 9.5

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've been having this issue since the 9.5 patch. I was hoping it would be fixed with the 9.6 update but alas, it's still occurring. It's VERY random, as some days I will be able to play without issue for 95% of my matches. Other times, I'll crash every other match, if not every single match. Most of the time, quitting and reloading will get me in properly. Other times, I'll have to quit the game and reload two, three, even four times before successfully loading.

A more detailed description of said crash: The game will bring me to the map loading screen, and everything will appear as normal. XVM elements will start loading, people's colors will show up, and I'll even be able to see others load into the game (go from "greyed out" to full bright white). Sometimes, the loading bar will stick at 0% for a while, other times it will start to load stuff, but the end results of the crash are generally the same. The bar will suddenly jump up to 100%, and then the game will just stick there, and never actually load into the match. Sometimes I will even be able to see some crosshairs, and on very rare occasion, I will be able to hear the sounds of the battle going on, but otherwise can not play. I have tried waiting, and it doesn't matter. It's not just "lagging" or anything. It simply won't load in, and the only way to get the game to continue is to quit out of the WoT process, load the game back up, and hope that it actually works on the second time, and that I'm still alive.

Here is an excerpt from the python log after one of these crashes:

2015-02-23 20:02:00: [ERROR] ./res_mods/mods//xfw/python\xfw.pyc

Can anyone give me some direction on how to fix this issue, or how to track down exactly what is causing this issue?

Try to reinstall the game and XVM. If this will not solve your issue, attach full logs (press "More reply options" -> "Choose Files") - python.log and xvm.log.

my tanks has been reinstalled quite a few times in the past for various reasons. And this is a new XVM install. I did say that I tried the new version once 9.6 came out.

However, I quickly ditched XVM (since crashing constantly is annoying) and scrounged together the individual mods I needed. I'll go back to using XVM within the next day or two so I can get a complete log that displays the crashes, and etc. Then I will come back with the logs and post them.

Thanks for your help, you will see me back soon!

Hi,

I have very similar issues - random (about 10%) hangs (not crash actually) on the battle loading screen. I've tried everything: fresh install, removing all mods, changing graphic settings, updating/downgrading GPU drivers. I was even so desperate to ask WG EU Support for help (and was properly rewarded with template answers).

Unfortunately, I've achieved nothing. It might be that removing all mods is slightly reducing probability of hangs, but I keep no records to have a clear proof.

As game process hangs and needs to be killed, there's no information in logs.

Anyway, for me it does not seem to be XVM problem. I suspect some game bug which comes active only with specific some hardware setups:

Here's i5 @2.8GHz, ATI HD 5570, WinXP/32.

It figures that as soon as I make this thread, my crashes miraculously stop... I did notice that Aslain recently mentioned he switched from nightly to stable, implying he was a total idiot and previously using the nightly version, so maybe that was the issue... I'll continue using XVM, especially since it seems to be working now, and will definitely come back if the crashes do...

Thanks for the attention, and sorry for the bother!
