Timers on "Battle interface text fields"?

I know it is possible to add hooks for updating the battle labels (in "battleLabelsTemplates.xc") depending on various battle events – eg after being hit, any vehicle destroyed etc.

 

Now, I want to know if you can also add  timers to the labels so that they are only displayed a certain amount of time after being updated. That is, similar to how "lastHit" text field in damagelog is displayed only for a few seconds after taking a hit.
