Bazooka
So, it looks like WG is finally admitting the current matchmaker is older than dirt (and about as functional as a stock MS-1 in a Tier X match ). They've announced a major overhaul, claiming to have rebuilt the core from the ground up. Let's break down what they're promising and, more importantly, what we think about it: The Gist (TL;DR for those who prefer explosions over reading): New Core: They've supposedly rebuilt the whole thing, aiming for better balance, more variety, and faster queue times (we'll believe that when we see it). Role Balance: This is HUGE. They're aiming to prevent the classic "Maus/E100 vs. AMX 50B/T57" imbalanced matchups. Instead, roles (damage dealers, support, brawlers, etc.) should be more evenly distributed. Finally, some sense! Class Limits: Max 5 TDs and 3 Light Tanks per team. This could seriously shake things up, especially for those TD-heavy campfests we all love/hate. More +/-1 Tier Battles: They're aiming for more of these, while keeping +/-2 as the "core" format. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. No More Clone Wars: Fewer identical tanks per team, aiming for more diverse lineups (maybe... hopefully...) Dynamic Queue Management: The matchmaker will supposedly adapt in real-time to player numbers and vehicle choices. This could be amazing for off-peak hours, but I'm also a little worried about unintended consequences. EU1 Gets the Guinea Pig Treatment: Testing will happen on EU1, with Encounter, Assault, and Grand Battles temporarily disabled there. Prepare for some weirdness if you're on that server! My Take (and where I want YOUR opinions): I'm cautiously optimistic. WG has a history of promising the moon and delivering... well, a slightly smaller moon. The role-based balancing is the most exciting part for me. Imagine actually having teams that make sense! The class limits are also a welcome change, though I wonder if 5 TDs is still too many in some situations. The +/-1 tier focus is interesting. While +/-2 is supposed to be the "core," I'm hoping they can truly increase the frequency of +/-1. It's just a more enjoyable experience for most players. The dynamic queue management is the biggest wildcard. It sounds good, but I worry about it potentially leading to longer queue times or even more unbalanced matches if it goes haywire. What do YOU think? Are you excited about these changes? Which change are you most hopeful for? What are your biggest concerns? Do you think WG will actually pull this off, or is this just another smoke screen? 5 TDs and 3 Lights, is it an appropiate number? Let's get a discussion going! This could be a huge change for the game, and I want to hear what the community thinks. Let's hope this isn't just another case of "soon™." @ Quote Link to comment Short link Share on other sites
JLdragon
Well I didn't read all of the latest patch and maintenance news but I do know that I have seen more than 5 TD's per MM, sometime all Mediums and TD's without any Heavies. Seeing more of mediums, LT's, and sometimes SPG's at the top of the team panels, Seeing more heavies in the bottom 5 of the 15v15 matches.. TBH, I think the MM"s are steadily getting worse now... Rarely do I see a decent evenly dispersion of tanks in a daily match: 3-4 heavies, 3-4 Mediums, 3-4 TD's with a couple SPGS and or LT's.. Still seeing plenty of 3 tier spread matches (5-7, 6-8, 7-9, 8-10). I usually play US Morning time frames so maybe 3k online am till around 3pm its usually 6-8k by then. I rarely play beyond that because thats when all the kids get home from school...(insert your comment here).. matches pretty much go to shiat for after that.. I'll start taking some screenshots to show you guys some of them that have been WTF? matches..
