Why XVM uses urllib, urllib2 and urllib3 at the same time?

Hello everyone,

 

I have been trying to find out which method is better for fetching URLs, BigWorld.fetchURL() or urllib. I have been looking at different resources and I have come across XVM's source code. To my surprise, I found that XVM uses urllib, urllib2 and urllib3 at the same time. This looks strange to me and I am wondering why this is the case.

Could anyone explain to me why XVM uses all three libraries and if there is a specific reason for this?
