STADISTIC ARE BEING UPDATE , ALWAYS

the button to update statistics is always dark 
and does not allow me to give it, 
and it always shows the "statistics are being updated",
it happens to me since day 10 it never finishes updating, 
and it never allows me to give the button again. Arrows always appear rotating
