Toggle lock turret rotation

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I searched the XVM files and this forum as well for a solution to be able to toggle lock the turret rotation with a custom key.

I find it not convenient to hold my finger on the right mouse button if I am want to look around without rotating the turret (and my mouse is pretty bad so it not always works), so I would like to have a custom key, for example "E", with pressing it once it should lock the turret rotation so I can look around and when I press again it will stop locking from the viewing mode and will rotate my turret again. (Hope this description makes sense).

Do you know any solutions for this within XVM?

Thank you in advance,

Best,

Ant

It's your problem. Why did you decide that someone will do something because of your faulty equipment?

Go to the nearest electronics store and buy yourself a working mouse.

There are several hundreds of programs that can reassign a key on the keyboard to perform a certain action, including setting a duplication of the right mouse button. Use them and do not waste time users on the forum.

@yepev thanks for your reply, I understand. It just would be nice to have a toggle lock function on turret rotation.

I stated the fact. The problem is neither in the game nor in the fashion, and it is not necessary to shift the problems of the hardware nature to the developers.

I don’t come to the developers if my keyboard breaks, for example, asking me to transfer all the control keys in the game to the mouse, to the headphones, to the speaker, or to anything else.

Admit it, it sounds like complete nonsense.

So here, his mouse does not work, but he is powdering the brains of the developers on the forum.

AFAIK you can achieve it using AutoHotkey software.

Add this lines on preferences.xml

<CMD_CM_FREE_CAMERA>
    <fireKey>    KEY_E    </fireKey>
    <satelliteKeys />
</CMD_CM_FREE_CAMERA>

Thank you! I will try!

@yepev : I understand your point of view and I did not wanted one of the XVM developers to do the work for me in their free time. I would do it myself, I just stuck after looking into the source code and I could not find any major documentation so I just asked the community if there is any guidance on how to modify XVM for my own purposes, such as toggle key button. If I find or implement something that is useful for the rest of the community I would have share all my contributions as XVM is free now.

But as I understand now, "toggle keys" are not belong under XVM features, as it can be implemented in other easier ways.

Best!
